Integrated engineering and fabrication to expand natural gas-processing capacity at Kings Landing complex
HOUSTON, September 30, 2026–Opero Energy, part of Audubon Companies, has been awarded the engineering, design, and modular fabrication for a new 300-MMscfd cryogenic gas-processing unit for an expansion at the Kings Landing processing complex in New Mexico, owned and operated by a subsidiary of Kinetik Holdings Inc. (Kinetik). The new unit will expand gas-processing capacity for natural gas produced in the Delaware Basin. Designed for both ethane recovery and rejection operating modes, the new unit will provide Kinetik with flexibility to adjust operations in response to processing requirements and market conditions.
Integrating engineering and fabrication for seamless delivery
Opero Energy’s scope brings engineering and fabrication together under one execution team. The project includes process simulations, equipment sizing, process and mechanical design, 3D modeling, major equipment supply, skid fabrication, assembly, and testing. The cryogenic system, designed to process 300 MMscfd of inlet gas, will include molecular sieve dehydration, natural gas liquid (NGL) recovery using a turboexpander and demethanizer tower, and a propane refrigeration system.
Modular execution to support efficient project delivery
Major components of the processing system will be fabricated and assembled at Opero Energy’s Houston fabrication facility, where engineering and fabrication teams collaborate throughout project execution. This modular approach supports equipment integration and testing, which reduces field construction requirements and supports schedule, quality, and execution certainty.
“This award reflects the strength of our integrated approach to engineering and fabricating gas-processing projects. By bringing our teams together, we will help Kinetik move this critical midstream infrastructure project forward with greater coordination and confidence while delivering the performance and flexibility their operations require.”
–Ismael Carvajal, Vice President of Opero Energy
Expanding our processing capacity at Kings Landing is an important step in supporting the continued growth in the Delaware Basin. Opero Energy’s integrated engineering and fabrication capabilities position us to execute this project efficiently while maintaining the operational flexibility needed to meet growing demand and deliver reliable midstream solutions throughout the region.
–Matt Wall, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Kinetik
The Kings Landing expansion project further strengthens Audubon and Opero Energy’s portfolio of gas-processing and treating solutions and demonstrates the companies’ ability to deliver integrated engineering and fabricated systems for large-scale midstream infrastructure. Opero has designed and installed more than 2 Bscfd of cryogenic gas-processing capacity, supported by in-house engineering and a Houston fabrication facility purpose-built for modular processing systems.
